November Museum Trip

Monday, November 14th, 2011

Saturday, November 12th was a pretty mucky day for weather so, what a better way to spend it than indoors looking at classic cars! A group of brave BMCU folk made the trek to Willard to visit the Millstream Classic Car Collection. Jack Smith owner was as always the perfect host and ready with some great stories about the cars. This is quite the labor of love for him since a great number of these cars have been in his family all along. He’s very relaxed to the point that if you have a notion to sit in one of these beauties, he’s all for it. He wants people to enjoy these classics as much as he does.

He built this larger facility to better display his collection, and yet does not charge an entrance fee! There is also a large amount of antiques and memorabilia. After everyone got a good dose of memories, we all scampered off to our warm cars and various Saturday projects..

Thanks to Jack Smith for his patience and hospitality and thanks for all that made the trip to see these fun cars!

End of Season Dinner

Monday, November 7th, 2011

We didn’t get a sign in list this End of Season dinner but you can see by the pictures that it was as well attended as two years back.  The staff were many and attentive as was the owner, what we have come to expect from this fun an delicious venue. A good close to the driving season.

Great last run of the season

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

The weather report wasn’t looking all that great as Sunday approached, but we decided to press on regardless and the fall color tour up Wolf Creek pass was on! A surprisingly punctual group met up at the Hogle Zoo parking lot on what looked to be a lovely day despite the forecast. We all gathered round for tour directions (well, almost all of us were listing to the directions :) ) and we headed up Emigration Canyon for the first really nice stretch of driving.

Most everyone took the direct route to the Sinclair station at Silver Summit — except a few who followed a certain yellow TR6 for a slightly more circuitous route. We were met at the rest stop by Roger and Jill Davis and we once again got our directions together and headed on out on US40 towards Heber. The colors by the lake gave us a nice show, though the light at the junction with River Road/UT32 split up the group a bit. Luckily Paul and I had actually tested the walkie-talkies and were able to keep the group together as we proceeded up towards the summit.

Hill AFB Gathering

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

The Air Force Base employs over 12 thousand people from the surrounding areas and hosts an annual “Food for Life” drive, open Car Show and Chili Cook Off at this time of year with accessible open aircraft both in the front display area and in the museum which is one of the best in the country. This year we had a little quirk, a monsoon downpour in the early morning hours that cleared around 0900 but deterred a few though there was a good showing of local hardware none the less as the pictures will attest.
