Potluck Dinner and Planning Meeting

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Our annual February potluck dinner and planning meeting went well and was well run and organized by our faithful leader and Governor General. Unfortunately your web correspondent had to leave early for a gig, but Paul Jaroch kindly took notes that I can pass on here.

  • Current officers were in agreement that all will remain in their current positions.
  • Paul Jaroch will take on the membership role.
  • Renewal cards for donations need to be addressed — Paul and Drew will see that these are handled.
  • Jon Hermance agreed to be a board member.
  • Marty:  The club is $3K down in donations, but our expenses were less as well with no newsletter mailings. Corporation tax may be an item to address.
  • Talk of space for restoration project pictures on our site in the future.
  • Update our email addresses on the site, Paul and Drew will address this.
  • June 19 is the British Field Day and Wendover as well, we could possibly attend both.
  • Pay Pal donations may be doable.  Mark Bradakis is point on that.
  • A GPS run may be in the works, kind of a rally with coordinates and little else.

Tech Session on Upholstery and Tops

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

We had a great turnout from the BMCU and the Jaguar Club for this tech session with Dale Hancock on interior work. Dale has done work on many of our members cars, and had lots of good tips for those interested in doing their own work. He answered many questions from the folks there, and took a look at a few pieces that were brought in for the session.

Dale is working out of a small shop now, and can be reached at 801-569-8861.

End of Season Dinner at Diamond Lil’s

Monday, October 26th, 2009

The location for this gathering was Larry’s idea and it became obvious that a lot of the BMCU members agreed with his choice. Diamond Lil’s is probably one of the most unique restaurants in Utah. If you can imagine Knott’s Berry Farm you’re there. It’s a total wild west saloon and eatin’ house both inside and out and seats 500 within the various rooms. It didn’t start out this way though, it was a modest home in 1969 and remodeled with old barn wood and cabin logs to seat 32. Prime rib and bread were baked in a home sized gas oven. That was then but the original charm is still there now.

Impromptu drive a success!

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009
Wow oh Wow oh Wow!!!! Today’s impromptu road trip was awesome.  The weather cooperated and we had a great time cruising through the mountains.  We had four Brit-mobiles, one Mercedes chase vehicle and two others in LBC’s who headed up the canyon before us.
Particiapants were:  Kevin and Marie, Austin Healey; Larry and Margaret, TR6; Rich, TR 250; Roger and Jill, Sunbeam; Paul, Mercedes.  Sorry, I missed who the other two people were who headed up the canyon before us (sources tell us this was the Jahnkes).
We basically re-did the Trappers Loop Tour.  Up Emigration Canyon, through East Canyon where we saw the Mustang Club going the opposite way (must have been 30-50 cars), stop in Morgan to drain & refill liquids, (we got to the gas station just before the Layton Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club.  At least 100 bikes!  They were very interested in our cars and came over to look at them) through Stoddard and over Trappers Loop and the old Snowbasin road, and a late lunch at The Oaks.  From there we headed down Ogden Canyon and took our own routes back home.  It was a fantastic Fall Fiesta.  The skies continued to clear all day and the tops were not really needed, although we did take preventative measures in Morgan.
Kerry, the Sheriff was at the gas station in Morgan.  Could he have been looking for you?
Kevin et al did a dynamite job and we’re glad they invited us along on their Sunday drive.  We hope that others will use the internet to inform the BMCU members of other informal, spur-of-the-moment drives.

Swap Meet

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Once again your intrepid web editor managed to have a conflict with a BMCU event, but the photos received from Gary showed a good group of folks made it. As always, please send in any photos or stories.
