On Friday evening August 12 at 7:00 PM we need BMCU, Bike Club, BAHC (Austin Healy), WMJR (Jaguar) and SLCN (Salt Lake Community Network) volunteers with hammers, staplers, and stiff floor brooms to help set up the venue at Liberty Park (northeast quadrant).
On Saturday morning August 13 some volunteers with set-up equipment would be appreciated at 7:00 AM to clean up any damage to the venue that occurred during the night.
On Saturday morning August 13 at 8:00 AM many more volunteers are needed to help with registration and placing the cars and bikes on the field. Most cars should be in place on the field by 9:00 AM.
The Chow Truck should be on site by 10:00 AM.
Volunteers to help with BFD teardown would also be greatly appreciated beginning around 2:30 PM and usually ending by 3:30 PM.

I just got back from doing the Trappers loop to check out the roads. The roads are fine with little construction so this should be a good outing. The weather is supposed to be sunny and 89 deg. The temperature in the mountains was 15 degrees cooler than the valley today! So make plans to be at the Hogle Zoo between 9 and 9:30 for a scheduled 9:30 am departure. Let’s get everyone out for this should be a spectacular run. See you there!

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, I must inform you of the cancellation of the Twice Over the Oquirrh’s Tour that had been rescheduled for this Saturday, July 9th. Very regrettable I simply cannot take on this duty at this time and unfortunately since weather prevented me from doing an earlier reconnaissance of the route, I cannot even ask someone else to lead it for me because I have not been able to design and drive the route myself.
Never fear though, I have been in contact with John Progess and he informs me that he is ready for the Trappers Loop Tour on the following weekend July 16th. I am sure that more information will follow about it, shortly.
Since we had such a late spring maybe we will have an Indian Summer and perhaps I will be able to reschedule for latter this year, or it may have to wait till next summer.

June 11th, this Saturday, from 8 A.M. to 10 P.M. will be the 37th Annual Scottish Days/Highland Games at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. This is a BMCU sponsored event but there is no contact person because it is just a “show up and park your car” kind of day.
We have been directed to enter at the South West gate and park on the grass near there. For those of you who have gone to this event before, it is the same as in past years. For those of you for whom this is a new event, you really can’t go wrong, there are plenty of volunteers around to direct you.
We seem to be finally getting to some better weather! Temperatures are supposed to be in the mid 70′s and partly cloudy, but no rain in the forecast. Should be a great day to be out with our LBC’s. Let’s make it a great turnout.

Well, for those of you who did not come to the club’s 1st ever Economy Run, I certainly hope that you were at least able to get out and drive your LBC because it was a perfect, beautiful day for a drive!
Actually only three cars showed up, a slightly smaller turnout than I was expecting, but I can only say, you really missed a fun event. I chose a route that involved a little bit of city driving, a little bit of country driving, a little up hill, a little down hill and some freeway. It turned out to be 32.1 miles and took about an hour and a half.
So, the results, the winner was Darrin Grabber in his green MG TF, 27.18 m.p.g! Rob Foye in second (but also unfortunately last place) in his red TR4, a very respectable 22.62 m.p.g. I did not expect to be able to go on the event but since there were so few of us, I drove it also, but I am disqualifying myself since I hosted and designed the event. I surprised myself with 28.84 m.p.g. in my little yellow Mini!
Anyway, the five people who participated this year thought that it was a lot of fun and would like to do it again next year. You’re welcome to join us.
