Fall Color Tour, Sunday Oct 2

September 22nd, 2011 | Posted in News

My, the summer was short this year! It’s already getting to be time for our fall color tour. This year we’ll be going up over Wolf Creek pass. The trees are already turning up here, so it should be a magnificent drive.

Please note that this is one of our few Sunday drives, to give some of our members who work on Saturday a chance to join in. We are keeping October 9 for a rain date just in case. Keep an eye on the website and the BMCU email list for confirmation.

We’ll meet at Hogle Zoo (end of the parking lot nearest the mouth of Emigration Canyon) at 9:00 am for a 9:30 departure through Emigration Canyon, proceeding East on I-80 we will have a secondary rendezvous at Silver Creek Junction exit 146 (after you exit go left over I-80) at a Sinclair Gas station around 10:00, leaving at 10:30.

Hill AFB Gathering

September 18th, 2011 | Posted in Event Reports

The Air Force Base employs over 12 thousand people from the surrounding areas and hosts an annual “Food for Life” drive, open Car Show and Chili Cook Off at this time of year with accessible open aircraft both in the front display area and in the museum which is one of the best in the country. This year we had a little quirk, a monsoon downpour in the early morning hours that cleared around 0900 but deterred a few though there was a good showing of local hardware none the less as the pictures will attest.

Alpine Loop Run, Saturday September 10, 2011

September 6th, 2011 | Posted in News

The BMCU’s 28th anniversary Alpine Loop Run will happen on Saturday September 10, 2011. We will meet at 9:30 AM or sooner if you come earlier, on the east side of the South Towne Mall (take the 106th South exit off I-15 going east, enter the mall parking lot off 106th South or from State Street about a block north of 106th South). We will plan on departing at 10:00 AM. For those who are coming from down south, we will be stopping at about 10:45 AM for bio-reconditioning at the C-Store and Chevron Station in Alpine just before SR 92 enters Alpine Canyon.

We have the Heber Park reserved and they are letting us park on the lawn again. The sprinkler boxes will be marked/painted, so please do your best to avoid driving over them. Enter behind the  backstop, and drive across the lawn and park near the pavilion.

Bring your own lunch or find food in Heber. We have received a few items from Moss Motors, Victoria British and Harbor Freight, so we are going to have a Raffle!  So be sure to bring a nice fat wallet to buy extra tickets. We can always use extra donations, so if you have something in your garage that you know you are never going to use or can get a gift certificate or merchandise from a vendor, please bring it along and we will add it to the Raffle Prizes.
